Project Objectives
To highlight Thresholds’ Peer Support program, where staff in mental health recovery provide services and outreach to others in recovery, demonstrating the organization’s innovative treatment approach.

Challenges and Solutions
The client needed a way to really demonstrate the emotional connection between mental health clients and their peer mentors. During a team brainstorming meeting, I suggested filming joint interviews. This proved to be a game-changing solution, because during production the peers and the mentors built on each other’s ideas and energy. This enabled us to capture organic interactions and truly demonstrate the reciprocal trust, empathy, validation, and mutual growth that develops in peer support relationships. In past videos, we struggled to showcase the community aspect of Thresholds. This year, we filmed group meetings as b-roll to illustrate the camaraderie and mutual support amongst clients.

Outcomes
The client loved the organic energy and empathy that came through in the joint interviews, which became a renewed tactic for all future projects. The video’s emotional impact contributed to the annual gala’s fundraising success, where it helped raise $1.3 million.
